Stephanie N. Wong, Ph.D. (she/her) earned her B.A. in Psychology and Economics at Cornell University, her M.A./Ed.M. in Psychological Counseling at Teachers College, Columbia University, and her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at New York University. Dr. Wong leads her private practice, Psych for the People, PLLC, where she provides trauma-informed, culturally-responsive individual and couples therapy to address issues such as complex trauma and identity-based discrimination. She is also an adjunct professor at New York University and teaches courses related to foundational counseling skills and counseling theories with an emphasis on social justice, multiculturalism, and feminism. Dr. Wong has published peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and resource guides focused on Asian American body image development, culturally-responsive adaptations of evidence-based treatments, sexual trauma recovery in queer communities, fighting anti-Blackness in Asian communities, and more. She is consistently working toward cultivating expertise in the following clinical areas: complex trauma (including identity-based trauma and intergenerational trauma), racial identity, culturally-responsive evidence-based therapy treatments, and feminist supervision models. Dr. Wong is passionate about increasing access to psychology to historically and presently marginalized communities, particularly the Asian American community. She is also a member of the Asian American Psychological Association.
Dr. Wong identifies as a queer, third-generation Chinese American woman, licensed psychologist, adjunct professor, private practice owner, daughter, sister, granddaughter, partner, and friend. Outside of work, Dr. Wong practices taking care of herself by baking and sharing comforting foods, running in nature, diving into science fiction and fantasy books, and discovering her next favorite restaurant with her loved ones.
