Melody Chen, M.S., M.S.Ed., is a doctoral candidate pursuing her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology at the PAU-Stanford Psy.D. Consortium in Palo Alto, CA. She holds a Master’s degree in Counseling and Mental Health Services from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of California, San Diego. Melody has provided individual and group psychotherapy to adults and older adults in a wide array of settings, including VA’s, university counseling centers, academic medical centers, and private practice. Her clinical interests include PTSD/complex trauma, women’s mental health, addiction and substance use, AANHPI populations, and identity development. Melody’s clinical approach is integrative, drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and psychodynamic modalities with a lens toward traumatic sequelae and identity-related factors. Adopting a relational and collaborative spirit with her clients, while emphasizing connection, community, and universality, are values that she holds profoundly in her work. In her free time, Melody enjoys hiking, reading, trying out new restaurants, going to the gym, and being the taste tester for her partner’s culinary creations.
